Naugatuck Defeats Sacred Heart to Remain Undefeated

The Naugatuck High School Greyhounds football team beat Sacred Heart 49-19 Thursday night at home to remain undefeated on the season.

Naugatuck played under the lights for the second time on its new artificial turf field to give new head Coach Craig Bruno his third victory in as many attempts.

"I didn't know what to expect coming into the season," he said. "I expected to work hard, but I didn't know a lot about the opponents. The people here in Naugatuck have been incredible and so receptive to what we're tying to do here. The players have been receptive. And we're working them hard."

After last week's amazing comeback victory over Wolcott, the Greyhounds made their way into the state Top 25

Now, Naugatuck looks forward to next Friday night, where its opponent will be rival Woodland High School of Beacon Falls.

"We know how important that game is, and we will be prepared," Bruno said.
