Valley Baseball Team Looking for Third Consecutive State Title

Housatonic Valley Senior Babe Ruth will play in the winner's bracket finals tonight in Stamford.

The Housatonic Valley Senior Babe Ruth team, which consists of players from Naugatuck, Seymour and Shelton, defeated Simsbury 5-4 at Cubeta Stadium in Stamford Wednesday night to advance to the winner's bracket finals of the state tournament.

Tyler Spinelli drove in Frank Frosceno for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Spinelli lead Housatonic Valley with two hits and two RBIs.

Chad Cahoon added an RBI single, while pitcher Luke Dippipo had a complete game win on the mound to help the team secure victory.

Housatonic Valley plays Stamford at 8 p.m. tonight at Cubeta Stadium. The winner will advance to the finals of the tournament. The winner of the finals will be crowned state champs.

The Valley team is looking to win its third consecutive state tournament.
