Girl Rides to School in Style

Naugatuck Police give local girl a ride to school.

A detective from the Naugatuck Police Department made one local girl feel extra special when he gave her a ride to her first day at Western Elementary School.

Five-year-old Tara Fitzgerald took a ride in a police cruiser with Detective Sean Simpson along with her mother, Laura, on Wednesday morning.

"It's very exciting for her," Laura Fitzgerald said of her daughter.

Fitzgerald sent these photos, at right, to Naugatuck Patch. She won the ride to school after entering a raffle at the Back to School Fair held by the Naugatuck Public School system on Sunday.
