Going 'Over the Edge' for Special Olympics

Detective will participate in third-annual fundraiser.

Naugatuck Police Detective Jay Pugliese is once again helping special olympians.

Pugliese, who has been participating in fundraising events for Special Olympics Connecticut for several years, will join in its third-annual "Over the Edge" fundraiser on Thursday, July 18. Participants will enjoy an awesome view from 34 floors up and the thrill of rappelling down the side of Mohegan Sun to benefit local Special Olympics athletes.

Pugliese is asking anyone who has the financial means to consider making a donation "to make a difference in the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities."

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

"Whatever you can give will help," Pugliese said. "I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress."

Check out his personal page for more information.
