Night of Hope in Naugatuck

The annual “Night of Hope,” the official Connecticut Missing Persons Day event, will be held on the Naugatuck Town Green on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013.

A Night of Hope is held each year in honor of William “Billy” Smolinski, who went missing from Waterbury on Aug. 24, 2004, and has not been found since.

Civil War Living History Weekend in Woodbury

Step back in time to the summer of 1863. Stroll through the military camps and the civilian town of Unity. Talk with reenactors as they drill and go about their day. Take part in a scavenger hunt where the whole family learns about the American Civil War.

The Second Connecticut Volunteer Heavy Artillery reenactment will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Strong Preserve Park. Cost to attend is $10 per adult, $5 per student or senior, $4 for children ages five to 10 and free admittance for children younger than five.
