<p>Founded in 1959, the Naugatuck Historical Society has detailed much of the city's history, including the rise of the rubber industry.</p>
<p>The society is located in a space inside the former train station located along Water Street. An accompanying museum, first opened in 2001, is available four days a week.</p> <p>Visitors to the museum can learn about the rubber industry, its founders such as Charles Goodyear and John Howard Wittemore and other notable natives such as famed Hollywood costume designer Adrian.</p> <p>The society also holds various programs at the Water Street location, such as arts and crafts activities for children.</p> <p> </p>
