The Parks and Recreation Department, located inside the Naugatuck Public Works building on Rubber Avenue, is…More responsible for maintaining recreational areas throughout the town. This includes both properties run by the municipal government as well as the Board of Education. Snow removal at the parks and surrounding areas is also administered through this department. Some of the parks include baseball and soccer fields.</p> <p>The current director of the Parks and Recreation Department is James Stewart. His office, which shares a building with the Naugatuck Ambulance Inc., is open 8am - 3:30pm on weekdays. Stewart can be reached by e-mail at publicworks@naugatuck-ct.gov.</p> <p>Park employees also prepare fields for sports activities, carry out improvements on properties and set up facilities for large town events, according to the town's website. Holiday events are also held for Easter, Halloween and Christmas, as well as events held on the Town Green seasonally. The department also maintains the town-run Hop Brook Golf Course. </p> <p>Residents looking to apply for permits for use of the parks, whether it be seasonal for a specific event, must do so at the Parks and Recreation Department. </p> <p>The department also owns a second building just nearby its offices, where it stores equipment for the town.</p>
