The Naugatuck Teen Theater is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the theatrical development of students…More from Naugatuck, Beacon Falls and several other towns in the region. The theater holds workshops for teenagers, instructed by veteran directors and actors. All workshops are held at St. Michael's Hall, which is located next to the St. Michael's Episcopal Church in downtown Naugatuck. </p> <p> </p>

Igreja Comunidade Batista is a Portuguese-language church located in a former storefront in Naugatuck's downtown.…More It's been active in Naugatuck since 1998, and shares its space with the English-speaking Souther Baptist congregation Naugatuck Valley Community Church and the Spanish-speaking Primera Iglesa Batista. The English church was established in town in 1990 and the Spanish in 2008.</p> <p>The pastor of Igreja Comunidade Batista is Rev. Jose Monteiro. The church provides a number of programs including nursery school, Bible studies, youth groups and missionary programs to northeastern Brazil and Hartford. It has around 90 members.</p>

Built in 1893, Salem Elementary School is the oldest operating school in Naugatuck. Bequeathed to the town by John…More Howard Whittemore, who also funded the Hillside Middle School and Howard Whittemore Library among others, Salem has supported grades K-4 since around 1950.</p> <p>Children at this downtown school are instructed in a curriculum that includes math, science, language arts and social studies. Because of its central location, Salem School students will spend some of their instructional time outside the school walls, visiting the Naugatuck Historical Society, the Howard Whittemore Library and the firehouse. The mayor and the local state representative also come to the school and read to the students.</p> <p>The school's Flag Day ceremony is also a well-attended event, known among Naugatuck residents. Tim Leggett, is the oldest one of the three having been in operation since 1990.
