The all-new national touring production returns HAIR to its original, rebellious and provocative roots, with the same universal themes of individuality, experimentation and acceptance in the face of oppression that are just as resonant today as they were when the musical first premiered in 1967. Although initially deemed controversial for its portrayal of integration and free love, HAIR has since gone on to be praised for these same things in the many decades that followed. The production still contains brief nudity scenes, and as a result, may not be suitable for audiences under the age of seventeen.

Updated for 2014 by original creator Jim Rado, HAIR is an entirely new theatrical experience that depicts the birth of the 1960’s cultural movement that changed America forever. The show follows the story of “The Tribe,” a diverse group of free-spirited, politically-active hippies, who live a bohemian life and passionately preach pacifism and free love in a conservative society riddled with intolerance, brutality and the looming draft of the Vietnam War. All the original, chart-topping songs that became anthems of counter-culture and the sexual revolution are back in this production, including "Aquarius,” “Let the Sun Shine in,” “Good Morning, Starshine” and “Easy to be Hard,” along with the restoration of two songs not included in the later Broadway production.

The national touring production of HAIR stars Erik Kopacsi as “Claude,” Joshua Wiles as “Berger,” Eden Richmond as “Sheila” and Shahi Teruko as “Dionne.” Directed by Charles Roy and produced by Classical Theatre Project and Starvox Entertainment, the cast features an international cast consisting of Jos N. Banks, Emma Bartolomucci, Bruce Jones and Breton Lalama.

Before Friday night's performance, the Palace Theater’s Poli Club will be open to members and non-members for a four-course, 6 p.m. pre-show dinner prepared by Riverhouse Catering. Dinner is $62.50 per person, which includes tax, service fee, coffee and tea. The Poli Club will also be open for an 11 a.m. brunch before the Sunday matinee for $30 per person. Seating for both meals is limited and reservations can be made when reserving tickets for the show.

The Palace Theater’s presentation of HAIR is sponsored in part by Webster Bank, Adam Broderick Salon and Spa, Crystal Rock and Elizabeth Richard Gifts. For more information, visit www.thehairtour.com or www.palacetheaterct.org.
