Danbury, Conn. – Musicals at Richter (MAR), now in its 29th season as the longest-running outdoor theater in Connecticut, kicks off its 2013 season Friday, June 21 with “Some Enchanted Evening:  The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein,” a revue celebrating the most beloved songbook in musical theater, playing through June 29.  Staged on the grounds of the Richter Arts Center, 100 Aunt Hack Road, in Danbury, performances take place outdoors under the stars Friday through Sunday evenings through Saturday, June 29 at 8:30 p.m., with an added performance Thursday, June 27.

Grounds open at 7:15 p.m. for picnicking, with the show at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $23 for adults, $18 for seniors and $15 for students and children.  For Sunday performances and the added show on Thursday, June 27, tickets are $18 for adults, $14 for seniors and $12 for students and children.  Group rates and chair rentals are available, and a snack/soft drink concession is on site.

It’s a Grand Night for Singing! Danbury’s Musicals at Richter opens its 29th season under the stars with “Some Enchanted Evening: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein,” celebrating classic songs from “The Sound of Music,” “South Pacific,” Oklahoma,” “The King and I,” and many other beloved R & H shows. Directed by MAR Artistic Director Donald Birely of New York City and Lauren Nicole Sherwood of Norwalk, the production features a large cast of local performers and a youth ensemble under the musical direction of Dan Koch of Millbrook, NY.  The show runs for two weekends, June 21-29, with a special added Thursday performance on June 27.  Tickets range from $12 to $23, with discounted rates on Sunday and Thursday.  For reservations and further information, visit the website at www.musicalsatrichter.org, leave a message at 203-748-6873 or e-mail info@musicalsatrichter.org.
