Eleanor Mongillo, 79, of Naugatuck

Mrs. Mongillo was a photographic retoucher for Western Photography Studio.

Eleanor D. (Smackey) Mongillo, age 79, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013 at the Masonic Health Care Center in Wallingford.  She was wife of Donald L. Mongillo.

Mrs. Mongillo was born in BridgeportConn., on July 31, 1935, daughter of the late Philip John and Minnie Smackey.  She was a longtime Bridgeport resident and a Naugatuck resident for the past eight years.

Eleanor was a photographic retoucher for the Western Photography Studio in Bridgeport for many years. She was a finalist for the Shirley Temple lookalike contest, and she had also been selected Miss North End of Bridgeport during her youth.

She leaves a son, Jeffery Mongillo and his wife Jill of Naugatuck; her brother, Bruce Smackey of Pennsylvania; her sister, Thelma Leaffer of Massachusetts; her four grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas, Ashley and Maxine; and two nieces, Rebecca and Jennifer. A graveside service will be held on Monday Aug. 26, 2013, at 1 p.m. at State Veterans' CemeteryBow LaneMiddletownConn.
