POLL: Punxsutawney Phil Vs. Chuck

One said one thing about winter, the other said another.

Apparently we’ve got a difference of opinions in the world of groundhogs.

Today is Groundhog’s Day, a traditional American holiday on Feb. 2 in which a groundhog emerges from its dwelling and will call the shot on whether or not we’re going to have an early spring or a continual winter.

The drill's been the same for over a century: if the groundhog sees his shadow it means six more weeks of winter, and if he scurries back into his hole, it means an early spring.

Through multiple breaking news reports over Twitter Thursday morning, it’s been confirmed that Punxsutawney Phil — the staple hog in the Groundhog’s Day world — has seen his shadow.

So, that means in Pennsylvania — and we’ll assume this includes the rest of the Rust Belt region — it’s six weeks more of winter.

But here in Connecticut, Chuckles, our own groundhog, has predicted an early spring, according to a tweet from Manchester Patch and other new sources including WTNH and NBC Connecticut.

And on top of this, Good Morning America has said that Staten Island Chuck — New York’s own groundhog — is also predicting an early spring.

So, really groundhogs, what is it? Since we apparently aren't sure what's going to happen, we on Naugatuck Patch have decided to put it to a poll:
