CT Choral Society to present For the Children: A Concert of Hope

The Connecticut Choral Society (CCS) will be presenting a benefit concert, For the Children, on behalf of the Family and Children’s Aid Guidance Center of Danbury on Saturday, June 21st, 7:00 pm at the First Congregational Church (164 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury).

The concert will feature Faure’s Requiem and selected pieces of hope and comfort. CCS will be joined by the Swift Celebration Children's Choir, and award-winning composer and pianist Max Vladimiroff. The program will conclude with “Hope for Resolution,” an inspirational tribute to the resilience of Nelson Mandela. The piece is a juxtaposition of a classic European chant overlapped with a traditional Swahili melody supported by a lively conga drum line.

Buy tickets ($20, children under 12 free) at www.ctchoralsociety.org, or at the door. Call the Connecticut Choral Society (888-927-2933) for more information.

About the Connecticut Choral Society: CCS, established in 1980, was recently named by WTIC as one of the top five choral ensembles in the state. The 75-member auditioned chorus has appeared at Carnegie Hall and has toured in Eastern Europe, Canada, England, China, and Australia. In June they will be presenting concerts in France in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Normandy invasion.

About the FCA Guidance Center: FCA serves the city of Danbury and several towns as far east as Waterbury with free counseling, guidance, and group homes. Founded in 1809, the agency has been a refuge for abused and neglected children who are without protection, without parental support, and without hope. More than just offering food and clothing, FCA strives to heal and support Connecticut's children and families. Their clinical staff was first on scene at the firehouse following the Sandy Hook shooting.
