Connecticuters, Nutmeggers, Connecticutians: What Do You Call Yourself?

Lately I've been reading that those who live in Connecticut are nickname-less as residents. What do you call yourselves?

Sometimes, nicknames come easy. If you’re from Alaska, you’re an Alaskan. If you’re from Nebraska, you’re a Nebraskan.

But what about here in Connecticut? Lately I’ve been hearing that we can’t agree on one nickname.

The Connecticut State Library knows what I’m talking about: “There is not, however, any nickname that has been officially adopted by the state for its residents.”

Now I know this isn’t tried-and-true science, but I’d love to know what you think. Here’s a sampling of Connecticut-centric nicknames I found online.

Seemingly less popular were these terms — Cotton Mather called us "Connecticotians" and Samuel Peters referred to us as "Connecticutensian.” (Say that five times fast.) This was in 1702 and 1781, respectively, so I guess that makes those old-fashioned?

So what do you think? Do any of those nicknames resonate with you? Are any missing from the list?

And how do you refer to Constitution State residents?
