The Naugatuck Mayor’s Office would like to recognize Mrs. Joan Doback as the recipient of the 2012 Franklin Johnson Sr. Citizenship Award. The award will be presented to Ms. Doback at the Mayor’s Breakfast to be held at Jesse Camilles Restaurant.

Mrs. Doback was born and raised in the Borough of Naugatuck attending both Salem and Hillside Schools before graduating from Notre Dame Academy in Waterbury. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and her graduate degree from Northeastern University.

Mrs. Doback is the Chairperson of the Naugatuck Education Foundation and has played a vital role in the continued success  of this group. The NEF encourages and supports excellence in education by providing funding for innovative and creative learning opportunities through a community partnership. Mrs. Doback has also volunteered by serving as an officer or member of many organizations including: Western, Hop Brook and Hillside School Parent Teacher Organizations, Naugatuck High School PSA and the  Naugatuck Thunderfish Swim Club. She has also volunteered at St. Francis Church as an assistant CCD teacher and has headed up collections for clothes, food, school supplies and other items for families and children in our community.

Mrs. Doback resides in Naugatuck with her husband, Charles, and their two children, Rebecca and Charlie III. She is employed at Waterbury Hospital as Chief Physician Assistant in Orthopaedics.
