[CORRECTION: This article has been updated to correctly report that, as of 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2014, Naugatuck Public Schools will be open on Friday, Feb. 14. Further, Mayor Bob Mezzo has not issued a Code Red alert relating to this snowstorm. The Code Red referenced in an earlier version of this story was from Feb. 13, 2013. Patch realizes that the issue of school closures greatly impacts families, and we apologize for the confusion our error may have caused.]

With snow piling up, Naugatuck Police are out enforcing the borough's parking ban.

Between the five-hour stretch from 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 13, Naugatuck Police issued more than 55 parking tickets, according to department spokesman Lt. Bryan Cammarata.

"Please make certain that you are parking your vehicle in compliance with the Borough of Naugatuck Winter Parking Ban list," he says. "For details on the parking ban and a complete listing of streets and exemptions please go to the Borough of Naugatuck web page."

The ban reads, in part:

“No vehicle may park on any highway of the borough from the beginning of snow or ice fall, or other dangerous ice conditions until twelve (12) hours after the cessation of such conditions.”

For those who have received a parking ticket, Cammarata asks that you do not call the police department; all issues concerning parking tickets must be discussed in person with Mayoral Aide Ed Carter at Town Hall during business hours Monday through Friday.

Trash Collection Delays

On Feb. 12, the borough announced that trash collection was pushed back a day due to the storm. There's been no update yet if it will be pushed back another day.

Schools are NOT closed according to the RA can you check your information in this article.

Much of the information contained in this article is false. I have not issued any Code Red today (2/13/2014), closed any roads, or cancelled school for tomorrow (2/14/2014) (which I do not have the ability to do). My suspicion is that much of the information came from a previous blog post issued during the February, 2013, blizzard.

I was going to say I never received a code red message. Thanks Bob for the update. I will watch for your messages. Will you be tweeting, or posting out on FB if you have an updated blog message?

I have been watching the news and have heard we are supposed to get more snow tonight around midnight, does this mean the question still stands if there is or isn't school tomorrow?

My street NEVER gets plowed even after small storms, it ices over and cars slip at the end where the stop sign is. Also too on Scott St. There are no sidewalks and there's snow piled up causing the street to be narrow with students walking in the middle of the road. Work on making it safer for kids near the highschool who have to walk because if something happens it's on the town and I know they can't afford it.
