Since 1986 the Naugatuck Arts Commission has sponsored free concerts on the town green. This series has always prided itself in its ability to deliver top notch musical entertainment for the entire family. The concert site, nestled in a turn-of-the-century architectural environment which features three historic structures designed by the internationally renowned firm of McKim, Mead and
White, is an ideal place to spend a lazy summer evening.

Early arrivals are encouraged to bring picnic baskets and blankets. However, in accordance with town ordinances, alcoholic beverages are not permitted. All of these Concerts are absolutely free to the public.

When are they going to get Black Diamond to play the green again?

Sorry, that was a joke reference going way back in the Naugy time machine. In the very late 70's or early 80's, a metal band called Black Diamond played on the green and there was basically a riot (by Naugy standards) that broke out and that was the end of concerts back in the day. We were just early teens back then and I remember seeing a bunch of guys trying to roll a cop car. At least I am pretty sure that the band's name was Black Diamond. At least that is what we say now when we look back and laugh about it.

Watts. you are correct. Black Diamond was the band. I was the Bass player. Riot broke out when the cops wanted to shut it down. they pulled the electricity and that did not go over well with the crowd.
