March of Dimes Fundraiser Personal for Naugatuck Family

Triplets, parents involved in dance event to be held Saturday.

A Naugatuck family that has triplets is working to help women across the country have healthy pregnancies and deliveries in the future.

The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, had triplets born 10 weeks premature at two-and-a-half pounds each. The babies spent two months in neonatal intensive care at the UConn Medical Center, and are doing well now.

“Our babies survived and are thriving thanks to research funded by the March of Dimes,” the mother said. “We are of course very grateful and will forever want pay it forward and help future babies.”

This Saturday night, June 22, the couple will hold a 'Dance For Babies' event to raise money for March of Dimes, which works to help mothers have full-term pregnancies and research the problems that threaten the health of babies. The dance-a-thon will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Drubner Center at Post University.

The event will combine Cardio Dance and Zumba. Tickets are $15 before the event, $20 at the door and $10 for students who have a college ID. All participants must be 13 or older to attend the event, which is presented by VGrooveFitness.com and Candicewright.zumba.com.

This is not the first time the local family has fundraised for March of Dimes. In the six years since their children were born, the family has raised more than $14,000. The whole family - including the triplets, who are involved in the dance event - hope to raise $3,000 more by Saturday.

“We are driven by the fact that someone we don't even know did the same for us,” the mother said.
