I had noticed the numerous white signs posted all over the borough announcing the first ever Naugatuck "ALL ARTS" Fest and then read about it on the Patch event calendar.
Because of the rain the Chalk-the-Walk chalkart contest was postponed until October 15, but the rest of the festival went on as planned. There was an Open Mic all day with Eran Troy Danner in the gazebo and some local musicians were able to sit in. The demonstrations on the stage set up at the opposite side of the Green included dance, theatre, martial arts, and culinary arts.
I got to see the flower arrangement presentation put on by Terri's Flower Shop. The photo contest entries, with the theme of Outdoor Fun, were on display and were awarded first, second, and third place ribbons. There was also an art gallery featuring local artists. The Naugatuck Community Choir was on hand with a bounce house and games for kids.

Many local vendors with a wide variety of goods set up shop under tents and local organizations offered all types of "fair fare." Scouts sold donuts and softball players sold clever Mexican food in Fritos bags. My eighth-grader and his friends had a great time trying out various musical instruments with the help of Naugatuck Arts Council board members.
The festival was billed as a rain or shine event, and luckily the sun was actually shining for part of the day. Thanks to all the members of the Naugatuck Arts Commission for organizing such a great day and I hope that this will turn into an annual event.
