Gregorio Malonte and Lisa Carter recreate the magic of one of Hollywood's most iconic couples with live vocal impersonations, Vegas style production numbers and Bob Mackie inspired costumes. Hosted by Comedian Dennis Scott with musical productions choreographed by David Bovat.

Special guests include Bobby Darin, Marilyn Monroe, Johnny Mathis, Velma Kelly, Tony Orlando and Dawn, Madonna, Rick James, Tina Turner, Mini Cher...with more guests and surprises.

Lisa Carter and Gregorio Malonte were first introduced at a fine dining restaurant located at the prestigious Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield Massachusetts in 2009.  Gregorio, born on the beautiful island of Guam to Hawaiian parents was the dining room manager.  Lisa, an accomplished dancer and vocalist was the hired act for the evening which consisted of her and a guitar player performing a musical dinner set.  In her second set she came out dressed as Cher.  The Cher of the 70’s.

Gregorio thought for a minute it was really Cher, but knew otherwise and complemented the impersonation.  The crowd enjoyed the Cher portion so much so that Lisa decided to go in that direction entirely and create a tribute to Cher throughout the decades.  After vigorous attempts with different songs and show concepts Lisa decided she needed a host.  In steps restaurant manager Gregorio Malonte who Lisa was unaware had an extensive theatre and performing background.  He hosted that first show and the two realized there was more to this chance encounter than a one night gig. Carter asked Malonte to play Sonny Bono and recreate the famous Hollywood television couple. Malonte laughed hysterically and said “Are you crazy, I look more like Jackie Chan “…he kept laughing and realized that she was serious.  The rest is history.

Booked as the grooviest comedy musical tribute show in town, The Sonny & Cher Show lives up to all of its promises.  Going on four years since their humble beginnings in restaurants and country clubs the show has gained popularity and momentum.  Performing to sellout crowds from The Majestic Theater to The Hu Ke Lau Showroom in Chicopee Ma., this multi-talented comical pair has struck a chord of nostalgia in the minds and hearts of their audiences.

Unlike, in the 1970’s television show, this modern day Sonny & Cher duo put a twist to the familiar program with the announcement of their special guests from the past to the present. Tributing famous musical icons ranging from Marilyn Monroe, Johnny Mathis and Tony Orlando to Madonna, Amy Winehouse and the legendary Tina Turner all performed with amazing precision by these two quick change artists. Hosted by comedian Dennis Scott, the all new show has a cast of beautiful and talented dancers led by dance captain Katie Scherr with special performers including Dave Colucci as Bobby Darin, Victoria Jock as Mini Cher, Ethan Courtney as Sonny Kid and Cece Lewis as Chastity Bono who round out this impressive Las Vegas meets Broadway style production.

Musical numbers staged by award winning and renowned choreographer David Bovat along with Bob Mackie inspired costumes, this show sparkles like an undiscovered gem.

The Sonny & Cher Show staring Gregorio Malonte and Lisa Carter will be debuting for you to discover at The Palace Theater in Waterbury CT on March 9.  For more information and to purchase ticket please go online to www.palacetheaterct.com or call 203.346.2000

I saw this show at the Majestic Theater in west Springfield, Mass. when they first started out a couple of years ago.....ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

I saw the show at The Hu Ke Lau in Chicopee Ma. and I was blown away. The host was so funny and the musical numbers with the dancers looked like they came right from Las Vegas and Broadway. Sonny & Cher were amazing and super talented. I cannot believe that they transformed into so many different characters in a blink of an eye. I am going to see them at The Palace and I am bringing my mother and brother who are big fans as well. Congrats to the cast. I am sure this is the beginning of something greater than just another show.

I just purchased the tickets for Sonny and Cher on Mar 4th with no indications that the show may be cancelled. Drove all the way there on the 9th to find the theatre closed. No emails, phone calls, announcements on radio, etc. -- Very poor planning and very disappointing. Never had this happen before at palace theatre. Got out of car to see very small sign on door that show was cancelled. Nancy, never heard of you before, but your first article saying the show was cancelled was posted on Jan. 16th. Why then did tickets continue to be sold. This really makes me think twice about purchasing further tickets from the palace.

I would like to know why show was cancelled.
Nancy Sasso Janis March 10, 2013 at 01:31 pm
Debbie: I posted the paragraph in bold letters at the top of this post (and as a comment above) on March 6 when I happened to see it on Facebook. (The original preview was posted back in January.) Although I got a call from the Palace when the date of the show was changed due to weather, I did not get one when it was cancelled and probably would have driven there that evening had I not seen the news online. There was a small announcement in the Waterbury Rep-Am this week that I saw after the fact. I do not have any idea why the management company cancelled the performance, but I don't think the Palace made the decision. I was very disappointed that I was unable to see the show so that I could write a review.

I wholeheartedly agree with Eric. I am thinking of taking my account to a different bank in protest.Read More (NAUGATUCK Savings & Loan perhaps) May sound silly to some, but in my opinion, changing the name of such an historic institution to me is blasphemous, not to mention sounding stupid. ION indeed!
