Dave Gardino and Swing Shift in a Free Concert

Dave Gardino and Swing Shift will perform at Chase Park on Highland Avenue in Waterbury on Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 6 to 8 pm.

The original post listed the date of the concert as Thursday. I apologize for the error. I was sorry to miss it.

The free concert is sponsored by the Waterbury Park Department and the Music Performance Trust Funds of the Recording Industries, as arranged by Local 186, Musicians Association of Greater Waterbury. Call 203 574-7166 for more information.

Dave Gardino and Swing Shift have performed at the annual fireworks in Waterbury celebrating July 4th. The band usually plays for a few hours before the fireworks begin, entertaining the crowd as they wait in the stadium. They have not been able to do so for the last two years, so this is a welcome chance to hear them. WATR's Tom Chute is usually one of the featured vocalists and area teacher and choreographer Ralph Cantito has also been known to sing with the band. Mr. Gardino is in charge of the electronic parts of the eclectic mix of tunes that they perform.

Other local talents that are members of Swing Shift include Rosalie Veneziano, and Rachel Parker. The group brings you music from the 1940’s to the 1970’s. My personal favorites are the Mamas and the Papas covers.

Bring a chair and come enjoy this band that appeals to all ages.
