More Muppets Head to the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History

Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Rowlf and other early versions of the Muppets will join Kermit and gang in Washington museum.

Miss Piggy is reunited with her "Kermie" (the Frog) in the Smithsonian's collection of Jim Henson's Muppets. The legendary puppeteer's family, including his daughter, Cheryl Henson, donated more than 20 puppets and props to the National Museum of American History in Washington in honor of 77th anniversary of Henson's birthday.

The newest donation includes an original version of Miss Piggy and some of her co-stars from The Muppet Show including Fozzie Bear, Rowlf the piano-playing dog, Scooter and the Swedish Chef. Puppets from Sesame Street joining the museum collection include Bert and Ernie, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover and Count Von Count. Also included was Wilkinson who appeared in a commercial for Wilkinson Coffee in 1957 and Boober Fraggle, Red Fraggle and Uncle Traveling Matt from Henson's 1980s television show Fraggle Rock.

Veteran puppeteer Fran Brill, the first female puppeteer Henson hired for Sesame Street, was in attendance. Ms. Brill, who created the characters of Zoe and Prairie Dawn, said Henson had created a puppet family with his many collaborators.

In related news, to honor the 44th season of Sesame Street, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots joined Big Bird, Elmo, Cookie Monster and others from the Sesame Street gang to squeeze into a Late Night dressing room and sing "Can You Tell Me How to Get to Sesame Street?" Click here to watch the video.
