Based on the national touring Broadway productions of JERSEY BOYS and ELF The Musical, the two-month education program will take 50 high school students on a journey of self-discovery during which they will tackle the topics of discrimination, bullying and stereo-typing, in addition to examining how one’s personal perspective (or self-concept) can be affected both positively and negatively by outside perceptions.

Designed to enhance students' language arts curriculum, promote theater appreciation, encourage creative expression and foster self-esteem, the program also provides students with a unique opportunity to use their creative voice to develop an original artistic project that emphasizes their unique ability to inspire confidence, self-esteem, change, and acceptance among their peers. Students will also receive complimentary tickets to attend the theater’s Webster Bank Broadway Series presentations of JERSEY BOYS and ELF The Musical at the Palace, as well as two interactive question and answer sessions with the casts.

The American Savings Foundation was established by the board of directors of American Savings Bank to give back to the towns and communities served by the company for over 140 years. An independent, charitable endowment, the foundation is dedicated to strengthening the community by supporting education, human services, and the arts with a special emphasis on meeting the needs of children, youth and families.  Since its inception in 1995, the American Savings Foundation has contributed a combined $30 million in grants to local nonprofit organizations, as well as college scholarships to hard-working students in need of financial support.
