Funeral Tuesday for James Dudley

The 22-year-old Hamden resident, who was murdered Aug. 11 in Hamden, had family in Naugatuck.

James Terell "Rell" Dudley, 22, of Hamden, CT passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 11, 2012.

James grew up in Hamden and graduated from Hamden High School in 2008. James achieved many awards for his outstanding basketball talents and academic achievements.

James attended Briarwood College to study communications, and later attended Gateway Community College to further his studies. James was employed by the ACES Village School located in North Haven, CT, as an Individual Aide helping with children with special needs which he adored.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Pamela Heard and his stepfather Danny Heard of Hamden; father, James Dudley of New Haven; Grandparents, Louise Dudley and John Moody of New Haven; Brother, Taikwon Dudley; sister-in-law, Carmelita Dudley of Naugatuck; Nieces, Naniloha Keyes, Alani Dudley, and Kimora Dudley of Naugatuck.

He was predeceased by his grandparents; Joanne Troutman and Ernest L. Troutman previously of Hamden; great grandparents; Forest Godwin and Athelia Godwin. He also leaves behind many relatives, aunts, uncles and cousins, from the New Haven area and beyond to include overseas.

A celebration of life will take place on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Church of Christ, 16 Gem St., New Haven. Friends may call Tuesday at Church from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. Services by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06511.
