Obituary: Carl "Maggie" Magnuson, 81

Mr. Magnuson will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his kind, gentle nature and generosity.

Mr. Carl A. "Maggie" Magnuson, age 81, of Naugatuck, died Friday March 8,2013 at his home. Mr. Magnuson was born in Boston on Sept. 22, 1931, son of the late Carl J. and Josephine (Erickson) Magnuson.

He was retired from the Uniroyal Inc. Chemical Division in Naugatuck where he had worked as an electrician for many years and was a life long member of the Hillside Covenant Church in Naugatuck. He was a member of the Board of Trustees and served as an usher at Hillside Covenant Church, a 50-year member of the Shepherd Salem Lodge No.78 , and a member of the Naugatuck Lodge of Elks #967. He loved music and played the piano and clarinet, enjoyed fishing, vacationing at Pilgrim Pines, telling jokes, in his younger years traveling and was an avid theater goer. He will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his kind, gentle nature and generosity. He was one of the only two surviving members of the Squirrel Corner Gang. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served aboard the USS Buck during the Korean War.

Carl is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Rae Magnuson and her Mother, Judith Pratt, his Church family at Hillside Covenant Church and his many loving friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Doris and Alice. A memorial service will be held at the Hillside Convenant Church at 1 p.m. at April 27. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 82 Fairview Ave. Naugatuck is in charge of arrangements.
