Obituary: Ronald Pruchnicki Dies at 70

Former Naugatuck police detective and former owner of Anthony's Pizza in Waterbury.

MIDDLEBURY — Ronald W. Pruchnicki, Sr., age 70, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday May 4, 2012.

Ron was born in Waterbury on October 3, 1941, son of the late Theophile and Dorothy M. (Kraus) Pruchnicki. He resided in Naugatuck for most of his life and he graduated from Naugatuck High School. Ron moved to Middlebury five years ago. He had retired from the Naugatuck Police Department, being the only permanent detective in town at that time. He was the owner of Corey’s Market in Naugatuck for many years. He also owned and operated Anthony’s Pizza in Waterbury, which moved to Oakville where it still remains and is being operated by his family.

He leaves his son Ronald W. Pruchnicki, Jr. of Naugatuck; his daughter Carrie
Lombardo of Waterbury; a sister Shirleyan McHale and her husband Thomas of Old Lyme; three grandchildren, Nicolette Lombardo, Joseph and Michael Pruchnicki; one niece Maribeth McHale and one nephew John McHale.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday May 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Mary’s Church, 338 North Main Street, Naugatuck for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.  Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
