Obituary: William Anthony Daniels

Mr. William Anthony Daniels, 73, of Naugatuck, died after a brief battle with cancer, Thursday March 10, 2011 at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven. He was the husband of Dorothy (Hall) Daniels.

Bill was born in Waterbury, CT on September 10, 1937, son of the late William J. and Anna (Lasky) Daniels. He graduated from Leavenworth High School Class of 1955 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1958.  He attended the University of Connecticut Waterbury Branch and graduated from Hartford State Technical College in 1965. He also attended New Haven College studying electrical engineering.  He worked as a Communications Technician for AT&T Long Lines in Cheshire for 23 years until his retirement in 1990.

For many of his retirement years, Bill enjoyed early morning flea markets searching for old telephones.  An enthusiastic gardener, Bill cultivated quality tomatoes and proudly distributed them to neighbors, relatives and friends.  He also enjoyed visiting his grandchildren and traveling with his wife.

Besides his loving wife of 50 years he leaves: 2 daughters, Katherine Danielczuk and her husband, John, of Enfield, CT and Karen Daniels of Boston, MA; 2 sons, Michael Daniels and his wife, Sara, of Felton, Delaware and Paul Daniels and his wife, Hiromi, of Kochi, Japan; a sister, Evelyn Dederick and her husband, Harold, of Middlebury; 7 grandchildren, Michael and Kara Danielczuk, Kainoa and Nalu Daniels, and Caitlyn, Morgan, and Charles Cain, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements: Funeral Monday 9 AM from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway Waterbury to St. John of the Cross Church in Middlebury for a Mass at 10 AM.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday from 2 to 5 PM at the funeral home.
