Police Blotter: Copper Pipe Burglar Arrested

BURGLARY
Stephen Woermer, 22, 143 Cherry St., Naugatuck, was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny and first-degree criminal mischief after police said he forcefully entered a residence at 129 Cherry St. by breaking a pane of glass. Police said Woermer stole copper pipes and fixtures, and had latere admitted to taking the copper. Woermer was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 23.

ISSUING A BAD CHECK
Melissa Brangaccio, 34, 265 Spencer St., Naugatuck, was charged with issuing a bad check on March 14 at 7:18 after police picked her up on an active arrest warrant for a bad check, worth $264, written on Oct. 29 to Beacon Valley Animal Hospital. Brangaccio was released on a $500 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 23.

DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION
Westley Crilly, 23, 99 Railroad Ave., Beacon Falls, was charged with driving under suspension, not having proper insurance and driving an unregistered car after Naugatuck police pulled him over on March 11. Police said the report on the arrest wasn’t finished by the time they released the arrest record.

DUI
Parris A. Stribling II, 20, 100 Fulkerson Drive, Waterbury, was charged with driving under the influence and possession of marijuana after police pulled him over while he drove east on Rubber Avenue on March 12 at 2:12 a.m. Stribling was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 23.

VIOLATION OF PROBATION
Degan Tanzend, 42, 198 Maple St., Naugatuck, was charged with violation of probation after police took her into custody from her home on March 12. Tanzend was held on a $5,000 surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 14.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Jason Thompson, 34, 242 High St., Naugatuck, was charged with disorderly conduct on March 12 after police responded to his home for a domestic dispute between Thompson and his girlfriend. During the argument Thompson punched walls and doors, police said. Thompson was released on a $5,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 14.

BREACH OF PEACE
Ryan Havican, 35, 16 Lewis Circle, Naugatuck, was charged with second-degree breach of peace, simple trespassing, use of drug paraphernalia and possession in a school zone after police responded to 138 Irving St. for a suspicious person at 6:45 p.m. The accused was intoxicated and knocking on residents’ doors in the area, police said. Havican was held on a $5,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 14.

DRIVING AN UNREGISTERED CAR
Melissa West, 30, 10 L Kay Lane, Waterbury, was charged with not having proper insurance, driving an unregistered car, a failure to display plates and a failure to have stop lamps after police pulled her over on March 13. Police said further details were not available as the report wasn’t complete Tuesday.

FAILURE TO APPEAR
Marsel Backa, 23, 259 Westley St., Waterbury, was charged with second-degree failure to appear after police took him into custody from Old Firehouse Road on an active warrant on March 14 at 2:33 a.m. Backa was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 16.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
Two juveniles were charged with second-degree criminal after police said they damaged the retaining wall for the track at Naugatuck High School on March 14. The damage was estimated to be $1,346. The juveniles were released to the custody of guardians and were given date of March 28 in Waterbury Superior Court.

DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION
Ryan Oppedisano, 20, 236 Morning Dove Road, Naugatuck, was charged with driving under suspension, not having proper insurance and a failure to display plates on March 14. Police said further details were not available as the report wasn’t complete Tuesday.
