Original story:

As of Tuesday afternoon, Waterbury police continue to search for a city man who will face faces murder charges after being accused of stabbing a man to death in the Brooklyn section of the city Monday night.

Waterbury Police issued a press release Tuesday saying they have obtained an arrest warrant to charge Philip Grundy, 39, of 18 James St., with murder and first-degree assault.

The incident occurred at 6 p.m. Monday when a fight broke out in the street.

"The investigation determined that Grundy was involved in a fight with two men, during which he stabbed one man in the lower back and then stabbed the second man in the chest," Acting Deputy Chief Christopher Corbett states in a news release.

He said one victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries but that another was transported by ambulance to Saint Mary's Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Corbett's release states that it appears the fight stemmed from an earlier dispute between one of a girlfriend of one of the victims and Grundy's girlfriend. Grundy fled prior to police arrival and police are currently searching for him.

Anyone with information about Grundy’s whereabouts is asked to call the Waterbury Police Department immediately at 203.574.6920.

The identities of the victims are not being released at this time.
