He's Leaving, But Not Really

The former Naugatuck fiscal manager will now be a volunteer in Naugatuck.

He's leaving the borough, but he's not really going that far.

The Board of Mayor and Burgesses on Tuesday appointed longtime, former controller Wayne McAllister to the Board of Finance.

McAllister, who served as both the business manager for the Board of Education and the town's fiscal manager, will now lend his advice in a volunteer capacity.

McAllister retired from Naugatuck effective June 30 and is now the business manager for the Region 14 (Woodbury and Bethlehem) Board of Education.

Borough officials said they wanted to keep McAllister on board here in Naugatuck because of his tremendous expertise in the area of finance, particularly Naugatuck's finances, and because they enjoy his company. McAllister simply likes being involved in the process and wants to stay involved as a volunteer.

Bob Butler, a former Board of Finance chair, is now serving in McAllister's former position.
