Which Liquor Stores Are Open Today?

After the governor signed into a law a bill allowing Sunday alcohol sales, a number of Naugatuck package stores said they will open their doors for business today.

Connecticut residents can now buy alcohol on Sundays — starting today.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy a bill amending Connecticut’s Blue Laws, giving permittees the option of selling liquor and beer from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

The law went into effect immediately. Permittees are now alcohol on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day, and on Mondays following a Christmas or New Year's Day holiday that falls on a Sunday.

State Rep. Rosa Rebimbas, who helped orchestrate the law, gave support of its passage . The only state left to prohibit Sunday liquor sales is Indiana.

Patch checked in with our Naugatuck liquor stores to find out which ones plan on being open today. Here are their responses:

Stores Staying Open on Sundays:

  • — Will be open on Sundays, starting May 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • — Will be open on Sundays, starting May 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May be open longer in the future but uncertain.

Stores that Don't Plan on Opening Sundays:

  • — No plans to open as of now, but will stay open on Sundays prior to Monday holidays (like Memorial day and Labor Day).
  • — Doesn’t plan on opening on Sundays.
  • / stores — Don’t plan on opening on Sundays.
  • — Doesn’t plan on opening on Sundays.

Stores Not Sure:

  • — Not sure if it will be open Sundays.
  • — Not sure if it will open Sundays.
