Naugatuck's Neediest Winners of Students' 'Souper Bowl' Game

The Student Council at Cross Street Intermediate has come up with a "super" way to give back to the community.

Picking up on the hoopla surrounding the Super Bowl, the students held a food drive that encouraged their peers and teachers to donate items in support of the team they are rooting for to win — the Denver Broncos or the Seattle Seahawks.

The teams are neck and neck in the food drive, but the real winner will be Naugatuck's neediest residents, as donated items will be brought to the Ecumenical Food Bank.

This is the second time this year the Student Council has held a drive for the Food Bank. Their fall food drive raised more than $700 worth of items.

The students hope this latest drive will stock the Food Bank's shelves with even more.
